Miaouli Square
Miaouli Square in Syros is the heart of Ermoupoli, the natural meeting point for both locals and visitors, and the place for evening strolls.
Beautiful 19th-century buildings surround the square: the Town Hall, designed by Chiller and built in 1898, stands out with its magnificent 15.5-meter-wide staircase. The Club, which today houses the Cultural Center, dates back to 1863, and the building to the left of the Town Hall hosts the Historical Archive of Syros. At the center of the square stands the statue of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis, hero of the 1821 Revolution, erected here in 1899, after whom the square was named. The marble bandstand, adorned with reliefs of Apollo and the Muses, was added later in 1907.

Church of Saint Nicholas
Located just a short walk from Miaouli Square and the Apollo Theater, the Church of Saint Nicholas is the patron church of Ermoupoli and one of Syros' most iconic landmarks. Steeped in history, it is the third oldest church in the city, following the Metropolitan Church of the Transfiguration (1824) and the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (1828). A must-visit for anyone exploring the cultural and spiritual heart of the island.
Apollo Theater
The Apollo Theater, also known as the Municipal Theater "Apollo," is located in Ermoupoli, Syros. A symbol of the city's cultural development, it was built between 1862 and 1864 based on designs by the famous Italian architect Pietro Sampo, influenced by at least four Italian theater models. The theater officially opened on April 20, 1864, with a performance of Verdi's Rigoletto.
